Located on the southeast side of the Connolly Quad, the new student union, now under construction, will become the center of campus life when completed in 2018, in both location and purpose.

The four-story, technology-rich building will house many student services under one roof, including the bookstore, a large multipurpose events center, social areas, SGA offices and several new dining options, including a reimagined Propellers restaurant with outdoor seating. There will be floors busy with student activity and casual areas that are quieter for studying, sharing and relaxing.

“(This will be) an iconic symbol for Embry-Riddle – a symbol that the students and the resources that support them are the center of the campus. It says to the outside world that our university is creating an inclusive environment where students can relax, study, interact and find the support they need.”
– Interim President Dr. Karen Holbrook

The top two floors will house the new library, designed to be a flexible and interactive learning commons for the digital age. It will remain student-focused — a place that fosters scholarship, research, discovery and student success.

Another important objective in bringing this building to life includes a commitment to environmental sustainability in the design and building practices as outlined in the university’s master plan for development and growth.

It is with the input and participation of our students in the design and planning of this landmark structure — their student union — that we are able to achieve our goal of enhancing campus life for everyone in the Embry-Riddle community. It will also be a remarkable way to showcase our university, its people and their ideas.

The Student Union was designed by the architectural firm ikon.5.
